Tax Increment Financing

Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is a tool that municipalities use to finance public infrastructure improvements that directly enable private development and investment. Montpelier's TIF District was created in August 2018. Click here to learn more and view the District boundaries.

Tax Stabilization Policy

Tax stabilization for local taxes can be granted to eligible new industrial and commercial real estate projects. To learn more about the requirements, click here. Contact MDC for more information.

Contemplating a new project? The City of Montpelier requires a permit for any new building, change of use, or design change to a property.
