Lisa Maxwell to Head the Montpelier Development Corporation
The Montpelier Development Corporation (“MDC”) announced today that Lisa Maxwell has accepted the position of Executive Director for the organization. The MDC is an independent, non-profit entity that serves as the steward of the Economic Development Strategic Plan for the City of Montpelier, Vermont. Reporting to the Board of Directors of the MDC, the Executive Director works closely with local government, area businesses and organizations, to assist individual entrepreneurs and existing firms to establish, relocate, or expand their businesses within the City of Montpelier, and to cultivate an environment that ensures the City’s long-term success and economic viability.
Maxwell was formerly the Director of Development for the West Palm Beach Housing Authority and she has significant experience generating, advocating for, and managing housing and economic development projects. MDC Board Chair Bill Kaplan commented, “We are very excited for Lisa to apply her experience and enthusiasm to the work of the MDC. Lisa has a real understanding of the need to balance types of development within a community and an appreciation for the dynamic interests of a historic downtown such as the one we have in Montpelier.”
Maxwell said, “I am grateful for this opportunity to work with the Board of the MDC to help ensure a prosperous future for those who live, learn, and work in Montpelier. I look forward to moving with my family back to the Northeast, where I grew up.”
Maxwell’s role will officially start in November, although she will spend several weeks in Montpelier over the early fall to start making connections and acclimating to the community.
